Shropshire Unitary Authority was established in June 2009 and is an amalgamation of five District /Borough Councils within the County of Shropshire.
The Council is responsible for a number of services including: car parking, collection of council tax and non-domestic rates, concessionary bus fares, regeneration, environment health, housing, public conveniences, sports, arts and leisure, planning and building control, elections/ electoral registration, community safety, community planning and waste collection.

Parliament is based on a two chamber system. The House of Lords and the House of Comons sit separately and are constituted on different principles. However the legislative process involves both Houses.
