Bucknell Playgroup
Bucknell Primary School – Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9am – 12.45pm during term times. After Easter 2010 there will be a Thursday afternoon session.

Playgroup is for children from 2yrs 8months to 5 yrs of age, is registered by Ofsted and Government funded. The playgroup leader is Margaret Grubb, assisted by Janet Hartin and Caroline Sansom. Woodland activities are led by Tarena Beddoes and John Howells. The curriculum is based on the “Early Years Foundation Stage” framework. The children learn to make friends and enjoy physical activities, construction, art, music, drama, stories, science, cookery, and play with small world toys. They practice using numbers and early writing. Some of the activities are adult planned and others are child led. Children’s individuality is appreciated and the aim is to build their self- confidence and for activities to be fun.

Sessions take place in the light, roomy hall of the school but the group also has access to the school playing field, the woodland area, the outdoor room and the school allotment. The group like to spend half their time outside and like to go out for walks. Being based in in the school setting means that children are used to the building, the teachers and to having lunch with the school children leading to an easy transition on to school.

Playgroup is managed by a committee and can be contacted by ringing the school Tel: 01547 530264.

Chairperson is Gaynor Davies   Tel: 01547 530729.

Vice-chair is Cherilyn Doyle   Tel: 01547 530933.
